Homeschooling Graduation 2011
The goal for all kids going to school is the completion of 12 years of studying and finally graduation, and getting a diploma. In some states you have to get approval from the State in order not to go to public school or a school that is official. You can do homeschooling at home and testing to obtain the results. The ABeka type of schooling is offered through some private christian schools and can also be used for homeschooling. If you homeschool, they have a plan that they can do the testing and it would be an accredited program.
The ABeka books are excellent to be used in the classrooms. I taught at a private school and we used them as our curriculum, from pre-school through 8th grade. I found that the materials were superior to those used in the public schools. The reason was that they were in concert with all grades. There was a continuation from one year to another. Whereas, in public school the books are selected from a committee or school employee on what they think should be taught from the previous year. There is no real planning that takes place.
The lesson plans are already prepared for the teacher, so it is much easier to continue to teach for the whole year. This preplaning lets the teacher enrich the students with extra curriculum for the year.
I am sure that there are other preplanned homeschooling or private school plans that you could investigate and try if you plan to home school. I am recommending the one that I had used at a private school. I taught in the private setting for 3 years before returning to public schools.
Parents need to refocus on what is happening in the public schools. There is a cash flow problem in a lot of school districts, and a shortage of books that the kids are using. The Board of Education might say that they don' t have money to purchase new books. In some cases it is better to home school your child.
Homeschooling could be a shared venture through your church or friends. In my city they are offering special programs to help the parents that home school their children. I am not saying that this is the way to go, but if there are a lot of problems, it could be the best opportunity to have success for some children.
There are teaching materials to go along with the curriculum if you plan to home school your child. The bad part of exposing the children to public school is the environment at school. Some of the kids do not want to be in school and keep up a disturbance so other class member have a difficulty in concentrating. It is also a good idea to have public schools wear uniforms, this eliminates the competition of name brand clothing. The cost of homeschooling is the least expensive, and the money could be put away for their college.
When children are home schooled they can relax and not be agitated by other students. Of course a private school is a good place for your child to receive an education without a lot of commotion.

I homeschooled my kids for many years, and it always cracked me up when other parents would look at me anxiously and ask, "But, aren't you concerned about socialization?" I'd always laugh and answer, "Indeed: that's a big reason why we homeschool!" Thanks for the follow.
Truckstop Sally I hope that parents who's kids are being bullied will take heed and have them homeschooled. There was a show on TV showing Mrs. Obama talking about bullying. We learn in all kind of ways, TV for example have a lot of good programs that help the kids learn and we as adult. Maybe churches or groups can get together and educate their kids.
Will when they took out corporal punishment, the kids went wild. If you spank your kid at home, they can call the police on you. It got out of control when parents were brutal with their kids. You are right, I never had trouble in school, I knew better. I was never able to complain about my teacher. My mother didn't allow it, she would say what did you do? I never went to the office, maintain good grades because of my home life. Somehow we have got to go back and enforce some strictness in school. Who is in charge, child or teacher?
I home-school my daughter and she loves it. We discuss what type of things she would like to learn and try to work it in to the schedule. I use a service that is also used for farm kids. I am the teacher and decide the curriculum, they keep track of the curriculum and have to approve it. They also keep track of attendance to keep the school board happy. We started doing this because she was tired of being bullied and the school couldn't or wouldn't stop it. The worst bullies were a teacher's son and a teacher. The best decision my husband and I have made with her education. She is much happier and less explosive.
What a beautiful picture! Congratulations to everyone!
It's too bad that we can no longer have the same level of discipline that we used to have in schools. Parents not only did not resent it, they enforced it! If I got a licking in school, I got another at home!
Today's parents all think their kids are little darlings. They’re not! They are just as ornery as we used to be.

Mellie, I taught school and nowdays the kids are terrible. There is a lot of bullying to other children. There are other ways for them to learn to socialize. YWCA, YMCA, boys and girls clubs, scouts, and other activities. They don't foocus on their lessons in school, instead they are socializing. You don't have to worry when you home school, you are in control.
