INSURANCE COVERAGE 2010 ENACTED

The public became angry with President Obama when he passed with the Congress and Senate the new Health Care Bill. There were lots of reasons why and I researched some basic information that may explain the reasons.

IN 2010: Some changes that will occur.

1. Anyone that paid over $2,830 for drugs will get a $250 rebate from the government for prescription drugs. That was last year.

2. Employees that had retired can get funding to help encourage their continued coverage.

3. If the individual who had a pre-existing was denied insurance coverage, and no insurance for 6 months, could get temporary coverage, under the new health care bill.

4. If you bought new insurance, you may not have to pay a deductible and other costs for their preventive care services that are offered. The preventive care would be breast cancer screenings and other female cancer preventives, as well as preventives for men.

5. An important issue would be eliminating limits on your health coverage. However, there could be some limits on the coverage that is used annually and not over a lifetime of the individual.

6. If the insured becomes ill the insurance company would not be able to drop your coverage.

7. Parents can continued their children's family health insurance on their plan.

IN 2011: COVERAGE WOULD INCLUDE:

1. Prescription coverage for Medicare Part D who have reached the $2,840 coverage could receive a 50% discount on name brand and 7% on generic.

2. For Seniors covered by Medicare the benefits would include free coverage for wellness and preventive care.

3. The plan would also cover some nursing home residents as well.

4. For medicare the coverage would be about the same as the coverage they currently have in place.

COVERAGE FOR 2012/2013:

1. The public would begin to participate in a national insurance program to help pay for future long-term care services and support.

2. There are plans that have been in effect for years that you can buy insurance plans, that would cover you in a long-term care facility, for at least 6 months. You can purchase a plan and pay more for longer coverage. This protection would save an attachment to your assets, if you ran out of medicare coverage.

PROJECTED FUTURE OF THE HEALTH CARE PLAN:

By the year of 2014 individuals and all small businesses could buy health insurance and offer coverage. THAT IS THE MOST OBJECTION TO THE NEW INSURANCE COVERAGE BILL OF 2010.

There are plans to let individuals with limited incomes purchase health coverage. PEOPLE DON'T WANT TO BE FORCED TO PURCHASE THIS KIND OF HEALTH INSURANCE PLAN. Basically the same coverage as the past years are still in effect.

In the year 2020 the Medicare Part D gap is closed out

SUMMARY

The protest is the socialist type of medicine and coverage that is under objection by the public. It has reached the courts and will probably go to the Supreme Court. Meanwhile the bill is effective until it is overturned. Another objection is the cost of the additional provisions that the government will be paying out, and the cost to the taxpayer.

Interesting article; thanks. This appears to me like a catch-22 situation. Although the bill has some good elements, how we will pay for it; will it pay for itself? There is still so much informaton missing from the general public's eye; there should have been more factual and lengthy debates on this issue as opposed to the shouting and posturing. Voted up and useful.

WillStarr, You are right, there is no way to pay the cost of providing this health care. Since 26 States have sued the government, and won so far. However it still has to go to the Supreme Court. I believe the timing is wrong for the bill, 4 years from now when everybody is employed would be a good time for Health Coverage, maybe? The fight is on as we all know.

Hi Nan,

The problem is, all this will cost a lot of money, and we are already broke. It's just unworkable.
